However, our OP needs to get back as well - and unless he's got BA Miles, he'll struggle to find a US programme that has good value one-way redemptions.

Best to buy another 18k online, get to 43k, then do a UK-US trip with 1 leg in F (25k) and the other in J (17.5k).
