I stayed at that hotel for a few weeks last winter just after the conversion. The parking garage was TINY and under extreme construction, as were other parts of the hotel, but it was nice enough. Updated and a great location near the NIH and Bethesda dining (as mentioned).
The free pantry was open when I was there and I loved it. It is basically an interior room/closet on the 10th floor stocked like a convenience store - everything from ice cream and cookies to juice and soda. Everything was free for the taking and was very much appreciated. I noted that guests did not tend to empty it out - only taking what they wanted and leaving plenty for everyone else. A very nice perk - do any other hotels offer this?!?
Not a bad place - the hallways are a little convoluted and the updates call attention to some oldness of the building, but worth the stay.
