car seat in the middle is ok as long as it's only yourself who is being hemmed in by it. i have window both ways, though, so if the middle remains empty, he'll go in the window & I'll sit in the middle.
My question was more geared toward how to deal with this if I cannot use the car seat and he's a lap sitter instead
