Travel with Baby: What to do about the Loo

I will be traveling alone with my baby for the first time next week. It is a 6-hour flight on Delta, so chances are good I'll need the loo at least once while we're in the air.

What am I supposed to do about my son while I am in the bathroom? Has anyone else dealt with this before? He will be a lap child (although I will use the empty middle seat next to me with his car seat IF it remains open). I wouldn't ever want to dream of leaving him in his car seat while I made the bathroom run, but I obviously can't even THINK about doing it if he is NOT in his car seat.

Any suggestions? Are FAs usually helpful in terms of holding on to him while I dash into the loo?

thanks
I am trying my best to get all the possible scenarios planned out in advance so I don't find myself in a pickle when the time comes.
