Am I right in assuming you mean from HAM, as we don`t have any direct flights from NCL to the U.S yet?
There were talks with CO and AA, although AA had launched a service they pulled out within a couple of months of the first scheduled flight last year, Since then nothing has been announced, Etihad had been rumored to be studying AUH-NCL-JFK and Emirates success with the DXB route, prompting speculation that Emirates could potentially add EWR/JFK to strengthen their position?
There was much hype before the launch and advertising is still strong, it was a big deal getting this service as it is Newcastle`s first long haul scheduled service in the airport`s 70 year history. Your certainly right regarding other connecting cities, BA via LHR, KLM via AMS, AF via, CDG, LH via FRA, SN via BRU......not very appealing! neither is driving accross the Pennines in winter to MAN!
My bad, I was thinking Bristol(

!). I have doubts though. Why not just add another non-stop DXB-JFK. I recall that in another thread, an afternoon departure ex-DXB with an even later return from JFK to hit the midnight banks in Dubai is being planned although I cannot recall which one. I don't see what's in it for Emirates as a hub focused airline. I don't understand the motive to go into HAM-JFK either. Whilst it will be a welcome move I'm sure to those of you up north, I don't see how this would be an efficient use of JFK slots, aircraft & time. Likewise for Etihad. If they were to enter Newark, I'd think a non-stop would come first for 2 reasons;
Give better connections to Dubai & beyond
Top trump QR's flight via Geneva.
