I've seen this happen many times on domestic flights. They show all zeros a few days to a week or so before the flight and suddenly Y4 to Y8 appears (on seatcounter and on UA.com). My guess is that there is some sort of automated shedule that opens up inventory for oversells (lots on $$$ to be made selling full Y fare). Or possibly there is some manual intervention on the part of IM.
