The properties will be equally convenient to you for that weekend if you'll be driving. IME, both are fairly standard airport properties for their brands. Both will charge for parking. Unfortunately I don't recall what the internet (wireless or otherwise) are as it's been a while since I've used it at the Sheraton, and we didn't use it at the Westin.
It's been about a year since I stayed at the Westin. My understanding is they are fairly good to their PLTs with upgrades on the weekends (OTOH, the Sheraton is an all-suite property).
I usually book the Sheraton Gateway Suites a few times each year. My preference for it over the Westin is due to it's proximity to ORD. PLTs are given breakfast coupons (I understand GLDs may receive them as well, depending on how full the hotel is booked) for the breakfast buffet in the restaurant. The public areas & room furniture have recently been updated. The new Bliss amenities (Shine) are now in the rooms. There is no club lounge (unless it's re-opened in the past couple months) at this property.
While those two properties (plus the 4Pts) are the closest SPG properties to Elmhurst, have you considered either the Westin Chicago NW (located in Itasca) or the new Westin Lombard Yorktown (near Oakbrook)?
