Just quickly checking in--using the PC at the B&B in Nelson. I think we are about at the halfway point of the trip. Briefly I will say that is has been AMAZING! Marvelous trip, everything has been perfect. Love all of our accommodations, the food (although shockingly expensive), the weather, the people, the scenery. For our drive to Wellington took the Wairarapa route, as you suggested Kiwi Flyer. Took us 7.5 hours because we stopped at lot along the way. With that in mind, not looking forward to the drive from Nelson to Christchurch day-after-tomorrow . . .

Only slight mishap has been we lost a hubcap, which we noticed upon arrival in Wellington. Dropped the car at the ferry terminal early a.m. and wanted to plead our case with the Budget folks, but they were closed with just a key drop. Called on the phone and the nice chap said not to worry, he won't charge us. I think my sister hit the left curb one too many times.
