Do you happen to know the annual fee for the Singapore Platinum Amex?
You will if you have more than 150K SGD as holdings - that's the hurdle for DBS Treasures. However, as you correctly said there is also the regular DBS Black Card (Amex) though I personally think this one is outdated when it goes about maximising frequent flyer miles. There are two newer cards out there - DBS Altitude (Amex) and Citibank Premier Miles (Visa) - once you have your work permit and can show a contract proofing your salary than you should be able to get either one. required income ranges somewher in 60-80K SGD range so I would guess not a biggie for you.

Both cards claim to be the best mileage earning cards but I haven't done the math as I find my Krisflyer Amex too convenient. Based on those two other cards coming out Amex raised earnings rates on the KF Amex and offers the usual 50% bonus from the last years with a new additional 50% bonus if you spent 10K SGD on top of the 5K SGD annually to qualify for the first 50% bonus. Anyway, it gets a bit compolex then with different exceptions and max accrual but you are surely a smart guy and will figure it out.

Downside of the KF Amex is that because your points are transferred every month automatically into your KF account they will also expire after 3 years if they sit around that long. and as you already noted, awards on SQ are a bit expensive and with the demise of the 744's suudenly biz and first awards seem only available as standard awards for double the mileage - so you better think twice where you put your miles.

Cheers ....
