Yes, it is a requirement. I attended a Marriott presentation/promo years ago and I was never asked to provided documentation (W2 or morgtage info). However, when I booked it, I was asked if I met all of the qualifying criteria. I think it's primarily to ensure they have potentially qualified buyers attending the presentation since ownership is usually $20k+.
