We actually just flew in these seats NRT-BKK (it was a 3 class w/ solo) and NRT-ORD last month. We got the NRT-BKK with your help. Prior to you telling us about inventory, we were on a 2 class in business.
I think the reasons are that they are the closest you can come to "sitting next to some one" if you arent traveling alone. Both of those seats are on the aisle side. They are plenty apart, but you can still talk to your partner. In any other 2 seats, you'd be shouting across the aisle.
In addition, there is no additional traffic passing your seats. You are in your own little space.
Its interesting, seatexpert shows a seat 4D. I don't think there is a 4d. There was a table there if I remember correctly. There was only one seat in the middle of the 1st cabin. That is absolutley the least desirable.
