Local car rental company in PPT?

Avis, Europcar and Hertz have offices at the airport. I seem to be able to book Hertz online (but no free kms included). Europcar offers unlimited kms in their rentals but are very pricy. Avis seems to have some better rates with unlimited kms but their rates are only on request. I did try to send them 2 requests and both got denied after about a week.
I'm sure they do have cars available but they probably wont to sell them at their overprices Tahiti prices on their avis-tahiti.com website rather than through the general AVIS site which has cheaper rates.
I think I'm giving up on the big three. Can anyone report any good experience with any of the local companies (that speak English)? Do you have a contact email for them and remember how much you roughly paid per day?
