$322.50 isn't a bad deal for being 5,000 miles short. That's roughly the cost of a transcon, without the hassle of flying the transcon. If I planned to continue flying US, I would probably take them up on their offer.
That's exactly what I did. I had great success as upgrades as a Plat last year and didn't want to go back to Gold (especially if we have another fiasco like last year when everyone and their mother were given gold for nothing). I looked at it like the cost of a MR. Still killed me to make the call and give them the money, but I'm stuck with them for another year, so might as well make the best of it.
