I was looking at the BW(s)-Maui last year myself .. a trusted local pal confirmed that, sadly, the 'not so good' remarks at TripAdvisor were spot-on, and suggested any number of better properties.
We ended up on Ka'anapali Beach, for an entirely reasonable price.

While exploring the island, we did a drive-by of the Pioneer-Lahaina .. & saw nothing that would have persuaded me to even park the car and look inside.
