My thoughts exactly. Maybe it's something in the SF drinking water For revenue flights, I use *A carriers only for short flights which UA does not serve. It is painful to not get the 100% bonus miles on long-haul flights. If I were a no-status member of MP I might be indifferent to which *A carrier I selected.

For award travel, UA often has the "cheapest" awards, and the C or F class starts at your point of origin. I simply don't see much point in using other *A carriers for either earning or redeeming miles.
