Another way to look at it:

I have been to Venice several times, very much enjoying each visit. I have recollections of some of the meals I've had there -- more or less vague memories of the atmosphere in one place, or an especially nice dish at another.

But my clearest memory is the of my first arrival in Venice by water taxi, standing up in the back of the taxi with my eyes and mouth agape at the sight of this incredible real-life Disneyland unfolding, bit by bit, before my eyes in the morning sun.

I've been able to relive that memory for the past 25 years, and I wouldn't trade it for any meal that that I've had in the city. In the big picture, whatever I paid back then (and I certainly couldn't afford it) turned out to be a bargain.

That said, I am far less likely to take the water taxi from Venice to the airport, unless it's more well convenient than other travel modes.
