There are many flights with loads that would permit it, and it would save me a lot of hassle in trying to guess which middle seat will be empty. It seems like a no-cost benefit to AA. I'm not asking for the seat to remain empty, only that it remain empty unless the seats next to non-elites are all full. I would not expect a seat blocking policy to apply to the exit row.
