AA and turbluence/weather avoidance

Hi all... I'm an extremely nervous flyer who has a real problem with turbulence and bumpy flights. I'm flying on Friday morning from IAH-MIA, then onto SJU for a cruise. I know that there are some bad thunderstorms forecast for the entire gulf coast region that morning, so it's looking like the flight might be a white knuckler for me. I'm wondering if any of you seasoned AA travelers might be able to tell me whether or not American is good at trying to find smooth air and avoid the bad weather. I'm typically a Continental/Northwest guy, and both them are pretty good about trying to find the best ride. How does AA compare?

Thanks in advance...
