Best way to deal with my two UA accounts with different status

I was "gifted" 2P status through 2/08 and then again through 2/09.

Apparently, it wasn't possible for the second gift to apply since I was already 2P when I received it, so I opened a brand new UA account which now has 2P status.

First question: Should I call UA and ask them to merge the accounts and keep the 2P status or should I just make my UA bookings under the new account number until that status expires.

That depends on which reaction is most likely:
a) no problem, we'll just make your old account 2P and delete the new one;
b) sorry, you weren't eligible for the second gift, so we're closing the new account and canceling your status;
c) sorry, you violated our TOS, so we're closing both accounts and canceling all your miles.

Does anyone have an opinion about this?

This question is very timely right now because I'm booked under my old, status expired, MP# on a trip which begins 3/7. I have nice E+ seats which I reserved back when I was a 2P. I understand from other FT discussions that there's a pretty good chance I'll keep the E+ seats as long as no one manually looks at the record. On the other hand, if I knew UA wouldn't have any problem with any of this, then I'd rather have it fixed to guarantee the seats won't go away.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
