Why not just explore ORD? You can burn off a good hour and a half and get some exercise, too. You can travel among all the domestic concourses (1-2-3) without leaving the secure area. Just make sure, if you're leaving the C gates to the B gates, you take the
first set of escalators up to the B gates -- the second set goes to baggage claim.
Stuff to entertain yourself includes:
* the food court between T2 and T3, right before the G gates break off; probably the best selection of food in one place at ORD
* the zoo that is United Express (gate F11)
* the 70s-era concourse between T1 and T2, which should have some rotating art displays and is a good place to sit and watch planes
* looking for 747s hanging out in the middle C gates (late morning before they leave for Asia, and at least one domestic run that arrives in late afternoon) or the high-numbered B gates (an LH 747 runs ORD-FRA and can be seen in the afternoon)
* the display boards UA uses at each gate -- see what the chosen landmark is for each destination city, see which flights are taking bump volunteers and so on
* pondering the mystery of exactly why there are no concourses lettered A, D or J
Plenty of stuff to entertain yourself if you know where to look
