NW will be a non stop to AMS. Most flights are operated on the Airbus 330 which has AVOD in coach and only 2 seats in the outboard rows. You'll have a choice from DUS. They offer a non-stop DUS-DTW flight that is on a 757 or you can connect in AMS to take the A330.

NW TATL 757 has the benefit of increased leg room in coach, more than you'll get in standard coach on any other TATL carrier, but you loose the AVOD.

NW A330 has AVOD in every seat but just standard seat pitch. Since you're ST elite you can get a seat in the forward section of coach which has power ports in each seat if you care about that.

Sucks about the new company policy, sorry to hear that. If you're not looking to make a move as a result then you might examine how strict the definition of coach is. SK, BD, VS, and BA all offer premium economy that is still considered Y class but offers better legroom, seats, and maybe slightly better service than plain Y. This would mean leaving Skyteam, but at the moment none of the ST carriers offer this. UA also has Economy Plus (free for elites, usually paid upgrade option for non elites) on all flights, so if your company won't go for premium economy, then you might make a switch to UA.
