LH C all the way.
I will say the ONLY time I would consider a connection vs. a non-stop is if I can take a morning flight ex-FRA or LHR to ORD-LAX where I could get home earlier than I could taking the FRA or LHR-LAX non-stop. Part of the reason a connection makes for such a long day is if you spend a good part of the day in Europe before starting your trip home.

When I'm traveling east to west, I want to start my trip as early in the day as possible since the flights are so much longer with headwinds. If I don't leave until the afternoon flying east to west, it feels like the trip will never end.
