Jana .. seems like a heavily IAD and JFK localised situation from what I have read, and primarily for It'l flights? Just seems like overbooking has been too excessive .... simple as that.

Nothing to do with 9/11 for goodness sakes - that was 9 months back. Just poor yield management it seems - allegedly a now highly reliable and accurate forecasting science. And they are paying the price for not getting it right - or nowhere NEAR right it sounds like.
