I have seen this happen to others more times than I care to recall. If they don't blame it on weather, they blame it on ATC. I don't know how many of them deliberately lie, but they get their facts wrong frequently. Further, hasn't every airplane in the United fleet been to LaGuardia at some point in time? When does it stop being weather and start being operations? The other annoying thing I have noticed is they have stopped putting explanations for delays and cancellations on .bomb!

First, I never, EVER speak to CS at Terminal A, I go back to C18 at Dulles. Second, I always call reservations and ask them why the flight was delayed so when I speak with CS I can call their bluff with a name and number. I realize as a GS they will accommodate me anyway, but I am sure there will come a time when they don't because the agent doesn't know they are supposed to. I did have a problem getting a voucher issued once because the system was saying "not a reason for United to pay" or "ineligible flight / reason".

I stood right at C6 after taking a VDB with a F passenger from France. The Supervisor (whose tag also said he was the Training Coordinator) flat out lied to the guy from France. The French guy asked "So my free ticket will be good internationally in the same class of service as I paid?". Agent Yes. 15 minutes later after he read the voucher he came back and asked again. Agent said "Oh, I mispoke or you misunderstood me." No chance. The agent stopped, thought about it, and lied.

They probably didn't give that girl a pink piece of paper with the discount hotel number either?

I think one simple solution is to require airlines to have longer 1-2 hours connection times on planes coming from NYC or Chicago. I don't think an aircraft has left NY airports on time between 4-6 PM since Eisenhower was President.
