Cust Service lies to naive passenger and me

I was on UA 932 DEN-IAD yesterday which wasdelayed 1 1/2 hours due to delayed aircraft. There was also a change from a 767 to 757. Missed my connection to ABE which meant an overnight at IAD. Went to customer service at A terminal to get my hotel & meal vouchers. Only 2 people in front of me. As I was approaching the line I thought I heard the person at the counter say she had come in on the DEN flight. The agent told her that she wouldn't get a hotel voucher because it was a weather delay. At that point I told him from the line that it was delayed aircraft not weather and she's entitled to a voucher. He told me that he only waits on 1 person and that I don't know the circumstances.

The person in front of me left the line when she heard no voucher. When it was my turn, I told him I wanted a supervisor if he wasn't going to give me vouchers. He told me I wasn't getting a supervisor and he was going to tell me the same thing he had told the previous passenger. He then asked if I was on UA 933 from ORD and I told him 932 from DEN. "Well, then you're covered!". I asked if the girl in front me was on the ORD flight and he said yes and I told him I thought she said Denver. I felt like a fool and apologized.

When I got on the shuttle to the main terminal, I ended up sitting next to the same girl. She was very upset that she would have to stay in the terminal all night and that she was missing class the next morning. She is a college senior who was on her way back from visitng a grad school and also had 4 tests that week. I asked if she wanted to share my room and since I don't look too threatening, she said yes. I asked her which flight she had been on and it was 932. When I got home today I looked up 933 and it doesn't go anywhere near ORD.

Do CSA's get a bonus if they lie and don't give out hotel and meal vouchers to someone who is entitled? He must have realized I knew what I was entitled to so he lied to me to get out of his lie to the other passenger. Didn't he think I might check out the flight he mentioned or run into the other passenger? Unfortunately, I didn't get his name. His tag said something Manager.

I just wanted to vent and ask if I should write UA a letter.
