I think that's what Mileage Lover was talking about. You can make a request (prior to the flight) for a "kids meal". I have done this in WBC across the Atlantic with my then 18-month-old. I forgot what exactly it was - I think a fruit cup and some chicken nuggets. She ended up liking my meal much more than her kids meal, so I cancelled the meal request for our return. Since then, we just count on finding her something on the regular menu that she likes, and that has worked quite well.
One thing is clear: with the kids meal request, whatever meal they have is what you get, no choices.

That has been our experience too, in coach as well as WBC. Kids meals are something like chicken nuggets, hamburger, or a hot dog. I can't recall the desert. Mu kids are older now, 10 and 15, but they have been picking off the adult meals for a long long time now.
