Update on "protected" status

What many of you have noted was in fact the case. Unfortunately I did not get on the flight where I had been "protected" by the 1k phone agent.

The RNO gate staff handled the problem poorly, rebooking many on my original flight to the flight where I was "protected." Thus at some point the flight got oversold, and since the 1k agent did not give me a seat I was screwed.

I suppose I should have been pushy with the RNO gate agents but since they were being slammed by angry delayed customers, and I trusted the 1k agent's protection, I sat tight.

Wound up missing the IAD flight by 45 minutes where the "protected" flight would have allowed me a 15 minute connect window. Got pushed to the redeye so I will continue my beef with the 1k folks.

In response to some of the earlier posts, my concern was not with any "credit" I would receive, just making my connection.
