I think you mistunderstood the OP. He's asking is you can get miles in your account for someone elses travel.
In answer, you can get 20% of the mileage for family as long as you have them designated as Family in your Skywards account. Thats the legitimate way. I dont know how successful your suggested approach would be. I would guess at very unsuccessful.
