The reason I ask is because I want to claim my parent’s skywards miles on my account.
Skywards is one of the few programs that allows you to redeem miles in any persons name, as long as you have the required miles.

get the miles credited in your parents account , and simply use any number of miles in their account for urself whenever u need them.

Alternatively, you can make their account into a family account that ties into your account, but in this case u will only get 20% of whatever miles are in their account, and they lose the entire balance.
