Nine Days in Thailand - Where to get away from the crowds?
Howdy,

I have a Southest Aia spectacular coming up in May, and I was looking at several spots for a visit. I see the big beachy places like Phuket, but I like the more off the beaten path places that might just have a fan, dirt road, and no commercialization. I have 9 days free to explore Thailand outsude of BKK, and although I do want to see the North, seeing the beaches of the outh is a very big priority.

I ee several threads on this with various answers, but specifically for a place that is totally non-touristy and basic, real, and "local," does anyone have any suggestions for place(s) to check out? Thanks!
