Thanks Guys... it is great information.

One more question... If I travel from France to Italy (directly by train), do they stamp the passport? I understand that the passport and visa may be visually inspected, but do they stamp it too?

And the same question if I travel from France to Swiss and then from Swiss to Italy? What should I expect at these points?

Entring France from US (by Air) - Visa, Passport checked and stamped?
Entring Swiss from France (by Train) - Visa, Passport checked and stamped?
Entring Italy from Swiss (by Train) - Visa, Passport checked and stamped?
