Although coming down to open the door is one way of accomplishing said task, do you know that the attendant can just buzz the door from the desk?

Once inside the club, on both occasions the attendants were away from the desk much of the time. The second time the attendant wasn't there when we arrived, so we breezed right in. My wife wanted to use wi-fi, advertised as being available on little cards in the club. But it wasn't. I found the attendant, who said he had to reboot the system (which he did).
They've been having real problems with the router in the lounge and it failed totally when I was there on the 14th. They had to call the company to service things, since it took out not only the Wi-Fi, but also the two public computer terminals.
If you were just there last week, then it sounds like the company failed to replace that errant router.
