I think Fraser has spent too long in the US - he has obviously caught the american disease that mandates that when travelling you must bring along the kitchen sink!!

On a serious note - I have a 22" Samsonite and it fits the BAA and BA measuing devices like a glove so (touch wood) I've not had problems. If the 22" Tumi fits then you can show the goons and tell them to eff off. If it doesn't fit due to handle/wheels protuding then I would expect to be 'caught' ocassionaly. 'But they let me through last time' is not going to change a goon's mind or make the luggage smaller!

The fact that some folk have had to check their 22" Tumis suggests it doens't fit the BAA measuring device - has anyone tried? That to me is the acid test.
