The third party lounge thing can be a real bummer. CDG has to be the worst case where any other 1W card holder on BA flights are turned away. I did get invited by AA to use a common lounge on their flight, before the third party lounge dragon threw me out for not being an AAdvAAntAAge cAArd status card holder despite other Emerald status being acceptable to me.
It certainly used to be the case that if you were going on different flights then you could not go into the lounge together. I am glad that they have relaxed that policy.
Why do I care, I guest someone into the lounge at least once every 18 months....
