Same thing happened to me a few years back. CO dumped luggage because they were overweight and didn't bother to tell anyone. In fact they didn't even tell us it was for weight reasons until pressed.

Not sure why CO thinks anyone wants to show up to their destination with no baggage... would make sense to unload pax with compensation rather than pi$$ them off at the other end.

I had zero status at the time. My friend (bags were also tossed) was plat and I think got a few more bucks for clothing.

FWIW I now never travel without a change of clothing in a carry on... minimum.
