Do check the status of the trains prior to making the decision to either go to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof or to Mannheim. Deutsche Bahn delays have become a problem in recent times...believe me, I have a Bahncard 100 (annual rail pass) and know what suffering from Bahn delays means...
