Thanks TIMP I would welcome comments on our plans (as they are thus far) for our first visit to Tasmania. What should weather be like (normally anyway as it is changing everwhere!)

I am travelling with my mum who has had a recent knee replacement so lots of walking is not for us. More soaking up the scenery and atmosphere. The Henry Jones is sounding more appealing ! I e mailed Somerset on Pier but apparently they have no 2 bedroom apartments for when we plan to be there. Does Henry Jones have rooms overlooking harbour and are there lifts? As I mention below my mum has had recent knee replacement and while able to manage steps etc best if we can avoid unless necessary.

Plan is we arrive late pm (20-45) on Friday 17 October from Port Douglas

18 October- Day in Hobart/Salamanca Market. So any suggestions on what we should do welcome. I would think we would want to do a tour of the main sights including drive up Mt Wellington (or we may do that when we collect car on 20 October) Eat at Mures or Fish Frenzy (or any other recommendations please?)

19 October- weather permitting take Par Avion flight over south west and boat trip Bathurst

20 October Collect car and explore some of Huon Valley so any ideas welcome

21 October Drive Port Arthur and on to Freycinet lodge for 2 nights

22 October- Explore area in car or perhaps boat trip /Bicheno for penguins at dusk

23 October- Drive Cradle Mountain Lodge (not walkers but enjoy scenery and driving about).

24 October- Plan was to drive Launceston for night at Peppers Seaport but I think I agree with you and we should spend a second night at Cradle Mountain

25 October Fly Sydney from Launceston leaving at 17-25 so plenty time to drive from Cradle Mountain and perhaps see something on way? For example the Tamar valley? Any other suggestions welcome

Thanks
