Avoid codeshares. May cost more money but you have a higher chance of recieving your EB points.
In relation to this: book your transatlantic flights on Orbitz.com / Cheaptickets.com, and try to get at least one of the LH flights booked under the UA number, or try to have at least one UA flight in the itinerary, so that the reservation is booked under the UA ticket number. You may save as much as $100 or more if you travel in Y, and there will be no difference in the number of points you get. I don't know if this works the same way with SK flights booked under UA numbers, so I am just mentioning LH.
