I already said the RTW and Cir Pac route is not what I am looking for, but a way to get a 23K fare down to 12K to 14K...does it exist?
CX is able to charge a premium on JFK-HKG precisely because it offers the convenience of nonstop flights. @:-) CO offers nonstop from EWR and they don't offer First.

You will not be able to bring it down if you are not willing for go out of your way. You can also get good fares if you originate from TPE or MNL. You need to fly to TPE or MNL first, then buy a ticket MNL-HKG-JFK. HKG will be transit only. Again, the reason why you can get a discount is because of the inconvenience factor.
