Well, new information for me. I talked to a mileage plan CSA this evening and was told that even though I'm flying on an AA award ticket bought with Alaska miles, that since the first leg of the ticket is on Alaska metal that I will be checking in at the Alaska counter, not the American counter.

That's good news, I hope, for lounge access possibility since that should mean I'll have a boarding pass printed on Alaska stock, which may get me into the President's Club at DFW, and hopefully San Juan since it's the same day. We'll see, I'll post my experience in case anyone's interested!
