I do like the new-model Holiday Inns with the low single building design. I stayed at one in Everett, WA (actually a hugely renovated HoJo, though it's impossible to tell) and was quite impressed. There was a waterfall behind the FD and the bar looked like it belonged in a Hilton or Crowne. Room was comfortable and well thought out. TV was huge (but not flat).
The new logo, which can be seen on Wik-O-Pedia
here, looks fine but I don't like the idea of changing classic logos too much. I'm sure IC is trying to do away with the chain's "motel" image, but their recent price increases have done the job of that well enough IMHO

.
The
Holiday Inn Express logo has been similarly modernized and looks like it belongs on a soap wrapper. They should have kept the blue and orange, but as long as they keep the cinnamon fat pills I'm there.
No matter what the logos are though, I'm still awfully fond of Priority Club and will continue to stay with them and rake in the points.
If the design I saw in Everett is the future, I have no complaints.
