Are the old fashioned Steak, Prime Rib And Roast Beef Restaurants closing down?

Every year I notice more and more privately owned old fashioned non chain steak and potato style restaurants closing in my hometown and the various places I travel to on business. It seems like the last few years have been tough on old fashioned non chain restaurants. Most of them closing had been in business for 30 plus years. These were the old fashioned spots that served steak, prime rib, roast beef, ham, pork chops, and chicken. The menu and decor looked like places I used to go with Mom and Dad back in the 1960s. Old people loved them.

Sure the people inside were a little older at these restaurants but I liked the fact that they were not part of a chain and the music was set a little lower. Many of these restaurants had the same staff and local owners for year. Now they are closing down one after another. Is this happening in your hometown?
