The passive voice doesn't change the whole story-- UA disadvantages itself by blocking *A award inventory because they don't want to have to pony up the dough. I don't want anyone to get the impression that *A carriers somehow hold back award inventory from UA.

The fare calculation will either show "O" or "I". I can't think of a clearer indicator. Unless UA refunded miles to the OP, the ticket should still be issued in O.
