I think that's exactly what's happening. When I still had a 777 ORD-DFW on April 7, I noticed I couldn't book the J cabin, but that I could if I had booked on April 6. Also, if you click on a flight search on a domestic 777 (ORD-DFW) after April 7 and say search coach seats, you'll notice that you can't see rows 9-13 at all.
I see the J seats disappearing from the Y seat map searches starting on April 1 for the 777s on DFW-ORD-DFW. J seat maps are also available on those flights starting April 1. I don't see the same thing on the DFW-MIA-DFW flights.
Hopefully this is just a computer glitch.
