MD-80 Is So Much Louder

I had a flight from SEA-DEN back in December 07 and I took along my DVD player. On the way to DEN on a 737-400, I didn't have any problem listening to my movies. On the return flight, on a MD-80, I could barely hear the movie. Both seats were in F.

For the life of me, I thought it must be my headphones, but they were the Plane Quiets Solitude brand of headphones, a Best Travel Product in 2005.

Anyway, I changed the batteries and hoped for the best when I packed them for my most recent trip from PDX-DEN RT. On the way to DEN, the sound was fine in the 737-400, and on the way back, sitting in Coach, I was talking with the FA while folks were loading, and he mentioned how the MD-80 is so much noisier then other AS planes.

Sure enough, it was very hard to hear my movie on the MD-80.

Just another reason to retire those worn out MD-80s.@:-)
