Not sure what the issue is... for me, I actually have two AWD #'s - one work and one personal - along with two credit card #'s. PITA, but I make sure I go into to my profile at avis.com and put the correct #'s into the record before making or editing a reservation, and before picking up and/or returning a car.
The one issue would be if you have status that follows the AWD #. If so, you might not have preferred (or AvisFirst) status for rentals made on one or more of the numbers.
For what it's worth, I recently started a new job, and the corporate TA signed me up for Avis. Got a new wizard # (no status). Called Avis and they said it was no problem to delete the new account and put the new AWD into the current one (and retain the status). They did explain that I should not be changing the AWD for each rental but should maintain 2 wizard #'s. I asked whether I could then use the business rental credits and status on my personal wizard number, they said no, so I'll just keep switching.
