I have found some of the most valuable information from OMNI posters.... and a great place to get answers to off-the-wall questions.

However, I do feel that the OMNI games threads have gotten out of hand.... but I am not a fan of sub-forums in any format, so do not support that solution. As Rudi says, if the Ignore plug-in is implemented that resolves part of the issue.

Bottom line for me, with the exception that the counter does not go up right now for an OMNI post, NOTHING has changed... everyone can still post there and be part of that community. For people who have stopped posting in those games threads, obviously they were only doing it for the post counts since they stopped... so that is an indication of the motivation of their posting. Not sure how increasing post counts benefits the community.

While I have no problem ignoring threads I do not like, I do have to say that - for the most part - OMNI has been much "easier" to navigate the past few days.

Finally, I have to agree with Tom that it appears that the motion does nothing to really resolve the underlying issue... and one TB member says it was just a motion to get Randy to talk to the Talkboard.... not sure a motion was required for that to happen.

The motion really put nothing forward as a long-term solution.... just a knee-jerk reaction to a decision Randy took. Just as Randy's decision may have been a knee-jerk reaction to recent actions and complaints.

FWIW, the TB was in the middle of a conversation about long-term solutions to the question of OMNI games when Randy implemented this policy.

The point of this motion is to encourage Randy to restore status quo ante and then continue seeking long-term solutions from there.
