I need to fly yul-yyz tomorrow and I don't care when the flight is.

I heard that it is possible to go to the airport and standby for a cheap fare. Is this true? How does it exactly work? Should I just go to any check-in desk?

I have prestige status with aircanada. I fly a lot but I have never tried this.
