Traveling with a monopod

I recently purchased a pro-grade monopod, to support my heavier lenses, and also because I got sick of the cheapo flimsy ones falling apart on me after two weeks of use.

Anyway, this thing is a beast - most definitely weapon grade. However, it doesn't have a spike, and the little stand that opens at the bottom doesn't really seem all that dangerous.

I don't want to have to check it. Will I have trouble from the TSA? What about in other countries?

I've traveled with tripods before, but they were almost always the "toy" kind that come with cheap camera kits.
