And, OP, be sure to check in 24 hours before the flight and put yourself on the gate/airport controlled waitlist using online check in and reconfirm with a check-in agent at the airport that you are on the airport list.

Then, when that gate agents start working on the flight they'll op-up cert users before regular status folks. (assuming YYZC2's scenario is the right one).
